Based on the project workplan on "Application of hormone therapy for improving reproductive performance of dairy cattle in Vietnam" funded by Enviroment Research Links Program - Newton Fund, Biodiversity Conservation and Tropical Disease Research Institute (BioD) has organized the first training course on "Advanced artificial insemination technique in dairy cattle" on the 4th March 2018 at Edufarm Academy in Hanoi. The course was successfully implemented with the involvement of 70 veterinarians and students coming from different universities, dairy production agencies in the Northern of Vietnam.
In the morning, theory lessons were conducted to raise awareness of artificial insemination and various methods of heat detection in dairy cattle. The technical knowledge was provided to help the participants reducing failure to detect estrus which is considered as one major factor contributing to low fertility because of extended calving intervals.

The trainees practiced artificial insemination technique in the training stimulators which is designed and set up as the bovine reproductive tract. In addition, all precautions which is neccessary for heightening the pregnancy rate of cows are assimilated by experienced, well-known experts.

"Inspite of many years of hands-on experience, the knowledge which we absorbed from the training course will strongly help us improving the reproductive performance of dairy herd in Mocchau (Sonla province)", spoken by Mr. Phan Quoc Khanh, a veterinarian from Mocchau dairy breed Joint Stock Company.
At the end of the training session, the Project Management Board received positive feedback from all participants, who want to closely cooperate and accompany with the project in all activies, "which have assissted all trainees thoroughly organizing the awareness of and updating the advanced of artificial insemination technique in dairy cattle".
The last four training days will be conducted at dairy farms in Vinh Phuc and Ba Vi province on 6th, 7th, 20th and 21st March 2018, focusing on artificial insemination technique practice conducted by the project experienced experts.
